ADGM issues new Employment Regulations
In force from 1st April 2025

The new changes include updated minimum standards for employment, provisions for part-time and remote work with pro-rata entitlements and special obligations, and updated rules on parental leave and pay. Time to update those employment contracts!
Key features:
Will not apply to dual-license holders
Introduction of the “Remote Employee” and “Part-time Employee” concepts
Written employment contracts to be in place within a month of joining
Details on probationary periods, including leaves and termination
More clarity on maternal leaves
Introduction of a Death in service clause - the estate of employees who pass away may be entitled to death in service compensation of up to 24 months of the deceased employee’s wages
Introduction of Vicarious Liability - encouraging companies to put in place anti-harrasment and anti-bullying policies, grievance, disciplinary and equal opportunities policies
Policies on discrimination in the workplace
More clarity on termination and end of service gratuity
